So SaxSpy made a post recently on his Instagram, showing off some different symbols on the base of the mouthpieces. It seems like each mouthpiece has a different symbol on it. He showed examples such as a double diamond, an x, an hourglass, three circles, etc. My A7M can be seen here. It seems to have two intersecting triangles. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about these symbols. Do they function like serial numbers maybe? Are they done automatically by a machine or by hand? Do they have any meaning?

Also feel free to post the symbols on your V16s, as I'd love to see more of them.

I know it might not mean much, but years ago I was selling a bunch, and those symbols do mean something I was told. I'll be darned if I remember. It might mean who worked on them, but I cant remember and might be totally off. But they DO mean something.

It is the mark for who did the quality check at Vandoren. I inquired about it years ago when I was comparing a bunch of V-16 alto mouthpieces and noticed them. That is what the Vandoren rep told me.
