Bashed my right elbow a couple of months ago and developed a filled up bursa sack.
Just had it drained yesterday and not allowed to bend it much for awhile.
No flute and alto is iffy but tenor is fine as long as i raise it and rest with ice periodically (not the tenor).
I mainly play alto and flute so this is a chance to work on tenor chops.

I got bursitis in an elbow and knee once and it developed a few months after a bike crash (which was definitely the cause). Strange that it takes so long to appear after the injury.

I had the same thing a while ago.
Had my Bursa drained on underside of elbow and cortisone injection on the other side.
Mine wasn’t from trauma but from overuse or repetitive use.
Now my left side is in need of attention due to a forearm tear injury.

Funny - or not so funny .....Sitting on the sofa with an icepack on my ellbow and waiting, 'til my bursitis gets better. No trauma. How long does it take, what did you do to make it disappear?

In my case, antibiotics took care of the infection. It was all better within a week or two, I think.
Thank you very much! I took penecilin with no effect - perhaps I'll talk to a second doctor and see what he thinks.

I don't normally think about my elbow, but age brings change.
Played tenor a lot today.
Got high G out until my chops got fatigued.
Great! High G is the most useful upper tone, has the same timbre as the main part of the horn with the least embouchure adjustment. imho. High G up to C are easily accessible on my MKVI except for G#, it's temperamental as heck.

I followed the instructions of my doc: Keep the elbow calm and cool it with ice. The bursitis is almost gone now.
