I am very good friends with his brother Antoine, and I am praying for his family.

I just checked around and cant believe it. So young and so amazingly talented!
He was incredible.

Another Corona Virus loss....

He was only 51. Very sad. I saw him back about 5 years ago when he and his band played here in Barcelona during a tour of Eastern and Western Europe and he was stellar. One thing this tragic loss makes me realize is that the lung development of a wind player cannot save us from this Virus . I think we all might have been thinking that a Trumpet player of his level with the chops it requires would not be felled so easily, yet here is the sad news. So we sax players of whatever level best not think that alone is going to get us through if we get this awful bug.

if anything it makes us more susceptible; what horrible news...

61 years old to be more correct. I know his brother Antoine well. Rest in peace and condolences to the family.
Sorry for that mistake. Even at 61 it is way too young to die and he would not have were this virus not running rampant across the world. Terribly sad for anyone his age, younger or older too, and tragic when it is someone who has contributed so much to the arts and had so much more in him to share. I feel for his family and friends.

out of TOTM recordings topic... jazz musician died ...

my brother told that heard the news about death of jazz musician...
I checked... Oh god... there are many musicians...

So on Tuesday Wallace Roney. I watched him last summer and two years ago. Amazing impression of live performance in a small venue with powerful brass that not killing the ear, but entering your gut.

Herbie talks about him in the article:

Jazz Trumpeter Wallace Roney Dies of Coronavirus Complications at 59: 'His Time Here Was Well Spent'

The musician was the protégé of the legendary Miles Davis
