Thanks Frank. Just good to hear these players from time to time. Need more Rock & Roll, R&B, Funk Sax! :cheers:Yeah John!!, thanks for the great posts. All great and different in their own ways. Don Wise always has been one of my favorites. The only one I ever got to see live and meet was Clarence and he had a sound that could blow the walls down. Thanks again
I agree John. I hear most of those players everyday in my house (on my c d's of course) One of the ones keeping the funk alive today is Candy Dulfer, got to see her live and meet her. A true powerhouse in the Maceo-Sanborn tradition on alto .Many you tube vids of her .Thanks Frank. Just good to hear these players from time to time. Need more Rock & Roll, R&B, Funk Sax!
Yes she does Frank. I really enjoy her style and she always has an excellent band! One of the ones keeping the funk alive today is Candy Dulfer

Me too. FWIW, that was an L A sax tenor in that video. I had a black lacquer one years back that I foolishly sold but it made some young kid happy. It was a real good rock and roll horn and I didn't worry so much about bringing it into bars , etc.:cheers:
Always liked Richard's style.
Thanks for posting. Richard E with TOP , good stuffSaid the F word!
Yep Richard was one of LA Sax's sax artist. Seems that I recall him also playing one that was red, white and blue. Jay Davidson also played one back in the day. They were set-up to provide plenty of edge and projection so they caught the attention of players who wanted that.Me too. FWIW, that was an L A sax tenor in that video.
Good memory John, he did play one that was red, white and blue. I have a c d of his somewhere with him playing that sax. I remember doing a bar gig years back and I had my black lacquer sax and people came up to me asking about it. They seemed to like the sound at the time. They didn't care what brand of sax it was, just how it sounded with the band.Yep Richard was one of LA Sax's sax artist. Seems that I recall him also playing one that was red, white and blue. Hey John, I feel the same way, hope my memory remains good. The downside of the L A sax was that they were heavy, but you probably would have liked the way they played and sounded, especially for louder settingsHey Frank, just glad my memory is still good  They sounded good from what I heard on Youtube and other media. Never had the opportunity to play one.
