Hi, i have found the upper and lower joints of an old buffet crampon Bb clarinet (pre 1936: straight octave key, single post for the lower joint left pinky spatula keys, no adjuster on the Ab throat key and lot of flat springs..). They are pretty worn and the SN is not readable. They seem to come from different instruments, but they fit together pretty well.
I want to restore this instrument but before starting i have some doubts about the length of these joints. The difference of length between the upper and lower joint is much more than in my buffer r13. The instrument is not playable and i can't check if it does play in tune.
Does anybody who has a similar instrument please send me the measure of each joint (including the tenons)?
Thank you very much
Stefano

I don't know the measurements, but I'm wondering if the horn you are asking about is a Boehm System or Albert System? Or, maybe a mixture of both, which would probably be a fatal flaw in trying to restore it. DAVE

I've made some measurement (not too precise..):
top joint length - 22cm
lower joint length - 26.5cm
upper joint bore size - 1,46cm
lower joint bore size - 1,46cm to 2.1cm
Does it make sense?
My concern is that the upper part is from a Bb clarinet and the lower part might be from an A clarinet.

Somebody probably reengraved the serial number (21681) on the lower joint, that means that the clarinet is from 1928.

The measurments you list are accurate for a low pitch Bb clarinet. At least that's what my clarinet measures.
I do have a high pitched Buffet clarinet that measures a bit shorter for each section.
