it certainly does have character however if you compare things is disparity conditions the comparison has very little significance. I mean if you write that the Selmer USA would need quite some work to have it sealing well then it may be a better comparison if made at a later date.

Yeah, although I may have overstated it a little. It definitely needs work but I don't think to the extent that it will change the overall voice of the horn significantly, just based on my past before/after experience with different horns. But maybe you're right....in any case I'm planning to probably sell the Selmer as is rather than put money into it, so that comparison most likely won't happen later. ;-]
