Happy Sunday, SOTW!

Bill Evans' composition "Very Early" is really extraordinarily beautiful with sneaky, interesting chord changes and a deceptively simple and singable melody that ties it all together. For some reason I never got around to learning it until this year, and I've been a bit obsessed with it for the last couple months. Since I also enjoy making beats, I made a track with a slow 3/4 vibe that cycles through the form of the song along with an ascending tag like Bill does at the end of the first iteration of the melody on the original recording.

As usual, if you have questions or want to nerd out about saxophone/recording gear, improvising, composing, arranging, or producing, cruise over to my website and drop me a line.

Thanks so very much, all! Glad you enjoy it. I've been slowly merging my parallel interests (obsessions) with electronic production and jazz improvisation over the last few months, and in the past that was focused on my band, Progger. But due to the pandemic, it's all been squashed together in my home studio, so I'll probably be releasing my first truly solo project in a few months. I appreciate the kind energy!
