Hello,
I am looking for a new alto sax mouthpiece, as my S80 C* isn't really doing it for me anymore. Classical. I have looked at the Vandoren V5 A27 and A28, and the Vandoren Optimum AL3 and AL4. I'm not sure which to get, but I'm leaning towards the AL4 at the moment. Just wondering what you all think. I use Vandoren blue box and V12s 3-3.5. I am looking for a rich, dark classical tone with little buzz, air, and resistance. That's about it, thanks for the help :)

If you want to stick with that reed strength, I would recommend the AL3. I play the AL4, but use Rico Reserve 3.0 and 3.0+, like a Traditional 3 or V12 2.5

Try them all from WW& BW - that's the only way to know. I play a Soprano V5 S15 and just tied the AL3 & 4 to compare. I liked my S15 more - it was similiar but a touch warmer and more flexible.
