Hi guys,

I bought a Rico Plascticover 2.5 and a Vandoreen Classic Traditional 2.5.
The rico is so so much easier to blow and get a sound with while the vandoreen is harder but with so much much better sound quality and tone.
The seller where I bought the Rico told me the Rico 2.5 was equivalent to #2 of vandoreen.
So I'm planning to buy a Vandoreen Classic Traditional #2 so It would be much easier to blow but retain the sound quality of the 2.5 I bought.
Is that how it works? Will I get the same sound/tone between the vandoreen 2.5 and 2?
Or is that how reeds work, You get better sound the harder the reed is?

Thanks

No. The tone quality depends on how the reed matches with the mouthpiece and the player's embouchure and use of air. Too soft a reed is bad. Too hard a reed is bad.

Vandoren and Rico (the lower-end reeds from D'Addario) have differently calibrated hardness scales. The Vandoren blue box probably uses a superior grade of cane than the Plasticover.
