I have a Meyer NY USA 4MM alto mouthpiece with an untouched facing and original box and was wondering what the value of these things are??
The selling prices on ebay seem to be up and down, with no consistancy for condition, tip opening and whether the facing is original or not. It seems to be a case of whose bidding at the time.
Anyway, I just wanted to try and ascertain if there is a consensus on what they are worth.
ps_ it is in outstanding condition. You could describe it as near mint except for the slight fading of colour.

Thanks

$650, good grief. I had no idea. I bought a Meyer 6M in Boston back in 1987 when I was at Berklee. I wonder if that would have been one that goes for $650.

I've got an early Meyer NY USA (with the rounder inner chamber wall), not mint though, refaced by Ed Zentera, think it's about a 6 to 7 tip, has a tooth mark on the beak I covered with a patch; bought it off ebay for $400 while the sharks were feeding on a MeYer Bro's 5 elsewhere. thinking about selling it....dunno, just thinking, plays pretty good, great response....I just don't use it much.

Meyers from the '80s are nice. I'm trying an old NY6M out at the moment and it's not a big step up from my Meyer 5 and 6 that I bought in 1988.

Current Meyers are just fine, but feel a bit different to earlier ones.

The old NY Meyer does have a different feeling from the rubber-to be honest, I'm not sure if it's as easy to focus as the '80s ones I have. I've tried several NY Meyers that just don't play well and one that was great. I think the going rate is $600-$700

Patseguin, thanks a lot for the comment on the Youtubage.

Actually the video of 'Star Eyes', filmed last week, was me having a sneaky go on my '80s Meyer 6. I liked it and now a friend has lent me a NY6 to test. My brain is turning to jelly......

(There's not a lot between my HR Link 7, Meyer 5 or Meyer 6 anyway and I gave all my others away).
