V16's not working

An interesting phenomenon...have been having some problems with V16 #3's on alto (first box I have tried). With either the C* or the Meyer, G#2 would some times sound like the octave key wasn't pressed. Or...sometime the lower octave would be sounding a bit with G#2. All other notes were fine. I would play with reed and ligature placement, but it was hard to control.

I thought the V16 3's were also slightly stiff, so I bought a box of blue box 2-1/2's. They work fine on both mouthpieces, G#2 problem gone. May try to work up to blue box 3's, but for now....

Has anyone else ever experienced this?
