Hi there,

I purchased an Ed Zentera-refaced V16 T8 mouthpiece from a fellow SOTW member, which I like a lot. It is warm, but when pushed it projects well too. My question is, is T7 is different from T8 in sound concept. The Vandoren catalog tells T8 is mainly for section playing in a band, instead T7 is an all around player. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks,

Howard

Which do you wish to confirm - that the catalog says it or that it is true? ;)

Well, I think my question was not specific enough. I was just wondering if there were anyone who tried both T7 and T8, and if so, I was interested to hear their assessments. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks,

I cannot find the catalog you reference. If "T7" and "T8" denote only a difference in tip opening, it is up to you to decide its application. My idea of "all around playing" might differ widely from yours - in fact, my "all around playing" INCLUDES big band section work. And, depending on the band, I might use my .088" or my .120".
