INTRODUCTORY STATEMENTS:
* Definitely not trying to steal any thunder from saxmanglen's CA/West Coast thread. This is different.
* Waaaay in the past, one of our former moderators tried to put together a somewhat larger gathering and it failed spectacularly. I'm not saying this attempt will, but it may be difficult to do. However, I thought about this after last night's AZ get together, so I'll throw it out there.

==============

SPARSE DETAILS:
-> Time: To Be Determined. 2008, sometime.
-> Place: Las Vegas
-> Places of interest: Kessler's Music. I also hear they have other entertainment, too.

Why LV? Well, because of the non-saxophone-related entertainment, plane tickets and accomodations are relatively inexpensive in comparision to travelling anyplace else on the West coast (the Vegas Club hotel's all of $31 a night in the summer).

So, if you're interested, RSVP here. If we get more than say 20 folks to respond, I'll start looking into specifics and see what other activities can be planned.

(I will also try to put together another, separate, AZ get-together for a couple months from now. Details in a while.)

I'm open to the Vegas thing! I'm expecting notice of a regional meeting for my business this fall. Usually Vegas is one of the choices. Your right about easier to get to and more lodging options.

It's mainly the expense, IMO.

I can get a round trip ticket on Southwest for all of $140. I could probably do cheaper from expedia.com or something else -- and those hotel prices are pretty darn cheap. I can see someone wanting to spend $250 for a little weekend trip (and even that will turn away some folks).

Now, I've been to LV once. I didn't need a car and I didn't use a cab. I dunno where the airport is relative to anything else, but I doubt it's excessively far. I'm also pretty sure that if we have a bunch of folks, we could easily a) get a hotel discount and b) get a restaurant that will rent out a large hall or something with a stage, if we so desire to play (I'll listen, myself). We probably could do both anyplace, but I think it'd just be easier this way.

But, hey, if Dave Kessler or someone else from Las Vegas (Mark?) sees this and thinks he can put something kewl together, I'd be all for it.

Pete,

As we discussed at the AZ get together, Las Vegas sounds like a good idea and I would definitely be interested. Look forward to hearing more in the future.
