There "is" other good recordings. The Duke Ellington disc And His Mother Called Him Bill features the compositions of Billy Strayhorn including this one. It is my very favorite of the later Duke.
There is also one with Duke and Dizzy Gillespie. I can't recall the name if the record but its something along the lines of Jazz Party or something like that. Its on Columbia though.
anyone on this forum have a recording of themselves playing it?
Art Farmer (w/the great great Clifford Jordan)
"Something to Live For" is a sublime recording of all Billy Strayhorn tunes.

My friend got turned on to it by Dizzy who called it the best record of the year the same year as Joe's Strayhorn CD came out.
