Guys,

I have been playing on a 52 Tenor since my dad bought it for me in Highschool, circa 1995. I am not a super serious player, and between then and now, took about 6 years off from playing. Recently I have been thinking of upgrading to a Custom Z. I also play acoustic guitar on an intermediate level instrument. Any thoughts on what the upgrade would be like? What differences does it make to change to a really nice instrument?

Take your 52 along with you so you can compare the two side by side to notice the differences. Also try out the 875EX as well if they have them both there.

When was that 6 years you took off and how long, consecutively, have you been playing now?

Given your apparent level of playing (ref. "Yakety Sax thread), I'd suggest that you spend more quality time with your horn rather than buy a new one.

Take it in for a tune up - get the leaks out, lube the keys - and you're good to go.
