Hey guys,

2019 is my final year at home before heading off to university. I'll be majoring in jazz performance and am looking at a few schools in Melbourne - Monash, University of Melbourne - the main ones - and others like Victoria University, Box Hill etc.

What is the best advice to be ready to nail the audition and get in?

Cheers,
Sam

Not having been in your situation all I could tell a student is to really have good sight reading skills for both changes and melodies and have incredible facility on any kind of chord. So you can run any rhythm you want over chord tones in a tune and have maybe 5 licks per chord type to run. Just a suggestion. K

Just don't get discouraged, there are many factors with these auditions/recommendations etc. that are out of the student's control, hopefully you'll have a great experience- Good luck!
