video clip of Peter King playing Lush Life. Every time I've seen Pete King play he's played this tune in this solo/unaccompanied style.

Great stuff. And if I'm not mistaken that's Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones standing in the background - I guess the connection is Charlie Watts' jazz band.
Fantastic-Peter's one of the best there's been-A true giant.

Brilliant. And, I mean, WHAT a sound on alto.:) (The guy at the back is Jeff Beck)
Does anyone know what mouthpiece he is using?
an old metal link... maybe a four star model but not certain. deffinatly pre tone master
Personally, I like Peter King much more than I ever liked Phil Woods, and I like Phil quite a bit.
Peter King

If you go to youtube and type in "el dopa maynard ferguson " here he is a a young mod!
Wow, that was a really good listen. I don't suppose anyone knows of a transcription of it that can be had, do they?
well, well, I hate to disagree. Sorry Folks!:(

I love Peter King and this video seems to belong to a series of sessions where Jeff Beck, Lulu, Van Morrison, Tom Jones, and many more people took part (great stuff and great fun to se musicians having fun together). Peter King is Gigantic in (almost) all he does in this video.

Lush life is one of my favorite ballads ever.

This version, I am afraid to say, is not at all considering the great lyric atmospherics of this piece at all. I don't like the fact the Peter King uses it to show great skills and virtuoso artistry but totally against not only the tradition of playing this piece......Archie Shepp, Stan Getz, John Coltrane (nothing wrong with being against traditions!) but also against the grain of its spirit.

May I just say NObediddle, NO/WAYbedeebop, NOT/ON/YOUR/NELLYbediddlydoodoo. And further, and of course, milandro, you are completely entitled to your opinion. ;) :)
;) point taken but still disagree.....

how do you put together the " feel" in King's version with the immortal text......." And there I'll be while I rot with the rest of those whose lives are lonely toooooooooooo ........"
