I would welcome recommendations on music projects to listen to with two saxes, bass and drums, and no harmonic comping instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, vibes, etc.).
Instead of two saxes, it could be one sax and trumpet, or maybe some other combination of two melodic instruments. The important thing is that there are two melodic voices and no harmonic comping instrument.

Just of the top of my head ..
Billy Drummond made a recording session as a leader called DUBAI that is a favorite of mine.

Chris Potter tenor and soprano saxes as well as bass clarinet
Walt Weiskopf on tenor
Peter Washington on bass
Billy Drummond is, of course, drummin' on drums . :)

What have you checked out so far? There is a TON out there!
Billy Drummond's Dubai

Magic Triangle, and Leap of Faith, both with Dave Douglas and Chris Potter.

Interestingly, they are precisely the ones that Tryptykon is recommending below. Seems like we have similar (good :) taste.

Check out Moon Hooch! They have a fantastic and original approach to Sax & Drums...Sometimes they play with Too Many Zooz who are sax and drums but with a trumpet too.

Thank you. I just did. New to me and pretty innovative. I love it. Not exactly what I was expecting, but I love to be surprised by creativity.

The reason for my interest and request is that I am looking to analyse the different ways that the voices can interact in this format and maybe get some inspiration to write a few compositions for such a format.

Gerry mulligan was the pioneer of this. Look for it the Quartets with Chet Baker.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Ornette Coleman “New York Is Now” with Ornette and Dewey Redman
Gerry Mulligan Quartet with Chet Baker “Best Of”
Lan Xang “Hidden Garden” with Dave Binney and Donny McCaslin
Chris Lightcap “Lay Up” with Tony Malaby and Bill McHenry

I’d argue that by checking out the quartet writing of Ornette and Gerry Mulligan you would find that these two guys had as big an influence as anybody on many of the “two horn - no chordal instrument” groups that have come since.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far. I am learning a lot from this. And please keep them coming. I am on vacation, so I have lots of free time this month to devote to this.
