Hello,
are there some sax/drums/electric bass recordings worth hearing?
I am composing for that formation and would like to hear other approaches.
I have hear a lot from trio records with double bass but not so with electric.

Can't think of any, but since electric bass is my primary instrument (the one I'm the least incompetent on, anyways), I'm subscribing for some inspiration! :)

The first one I randomly pulled off a google search:
Not sure whether I like it or not, bass player's good though.

Steve swallow is one of my favorite electric bass players---and he plays with a PICK! Here's him with Paul Bley and Jimmy Giuffre

Well, not a bad thing, but i wouldn´t play the sax that way. Althought i have heard very impressive players in that 'style'!
There´s one album Trio Ostiko with Rosario Giuliani on alto sax. That´s the only one i know now.

More Steve Swallow - any of the trio recordings with Carla Bley and Andy Sheppard. I saw them playing in the UK last October doing stuff like this:

And the album "Songs with Legs" featuring live performances is absolutely great.

Rhys

PS Oops - I see that the OP was asking for trio with drums rather than piano. Sorry.

I know it doesn't have sax, but I can't resist this. Carol Kaye (she plays with a pick, too) with Joe Pass and Paul Humphreys funkin' it up.
