I'm trying to find new trio's I haven't heard, yet, by players who aren't the usuals (Potter, Rollins, Branford, etc, etc). I'm looking specifically for saxophone (alto, tenor, soprano), bass, drums.. no chordal instruments. The more intense and interactive, the better. I'm hitting a dead end with finding new records.

Any suggestions?

It might already be on your radar, but Joshua Redman put out his Back East album about 10 years ago & is all trios. There is also a "Trios: Live!" album from JR.

Oh yeah the Fringe was fantastic! Something different, Bernie McGann's (alto) Ugly Beauty. From Australia.

Nice, keep 'em coming!

I know of most of these, but there are a few new ones sneaking in. Thank you!

Also, Jan Garbarek has some trio (and duo) recordings, including “Triptykon” from 1972 with Arild Andersen (b) and Edward Vesala (perc), and “Star” from 1991 with Miroslav Vitous (b) and Peter Erskine (dr).
