As part of I Monster I am curating the Audio Visual Night at Sheffield City Hall Ballroom on the 23rd July. There are some pretty big acts appearing and for three days my hometown becomes one big insane music venue and it's all FREE.

This is the first time I have curated anything and it's a logistic nightmare. Organising bands and working with the organisers. However little triumphs are fantastic!

Being an old sod I am able to use my contacts and I have got my old mate Stephen Mallinder from underground classic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire to make a rare appearance with the I Monster Orcestra. This is a real scoop and I'm knocked out.
Also three ex members of iconic industrial funk group Clock DVA will be appearing including myself.

We will be a large ensemble hopefully with 2 drummers/ percussionists and various woodwinds electric and none electric as well as rock instrumentation to realise my
Mothers of Invention/ Pink Fairies obsession and we hope to recreate the Light Shows of the 60's such as the Joshua Californialight shows and Pink Floyd's Roundhouse shows.

Now I just need Arthur Brown to show up!

One of the interesting things we will be doing at this festival is accompanying a film that was originally made without a soundtrack.

Whistle and I'll come to you adapted from a short story by the eminent ghost story writer M R James. It has been really interesting working out music to sensitively
fit each scene and know where to lay out to let the ( amazing) dialogue breath. Our instrumentation is 2 Synthesiser players doubling el bass, Percussion, Electric Guitar and me on bass clarinet, saxello and bone flute plus percussion.

After repeated listening some of the pieces sound like they have always been there. I have seen films re soundtracked before and always felt a little uncomfortable particularly when the original soundtrack was excellent but this is different and I can see us doing this more.
