This has been a very welcome learning experience and its great to get into some 3/4 every now and then! The month is nearly over, so hoping to hear and see more takes soon. If anyone would like to host any TOTM for February, let me know and we can get everything worked out!

Madav -- doesn't sound like you were particularly tricked. Really appreciated the feel you established on the head; clean attack and strong tone, you could hear the work you've put in. Danged near channeled Jordan at 2:35 in that dig into the low-range. Really appreciated this take with my coffee, sorry it took a couple of days to respond.

Randulo -- You sound like that was an hour well spent -- sound pretty comfortable with the flow of the tune. It's interesting to me how many of us chose the Eb horns for this. I find myself doing that a lot of the time so I don't dry to ape the version I'm familiar with. Kind of curious what leads others to make that choice.

I appreciate the kind comments! I found the tune to be an excellent practice vehicle, and played it with a harder reed than usual. I'm going to experiment with that more. The changes are straightforward, so I should be able develp a better "story" in solos when I get the form into my head.

thanks Bayview - indeed I put time into the head, tone and intonation but in retrospect this was not the best take to post - trying to be too clever, or do too much sigh and the 3/4 kept throwing me in the beginning because of the similarities to Lonnies Lament.
But I have to thank you for the choice here - yet again, a song I've never heard and an artist I know nothing about. It's really a players tune I feel with a lot of scope for enjoyment, I really get to learn a lot on this forum :)

wuffysax -- sounds good to me, but I think you dropped it in the wrong thread. ;)

Sorry for disappearing at the end of the month, folks. Been battling migraines and they're exacerbated by my reading glasses, so I haven't been online much. #DontGetOld
