Sorry, Jared wasn't ignoring the take, just hadn't got there, yet. Listening now. Digging your sound a lot. I can tell you're being cautious, here, but I think you're close than you realize. One of the issues with the backing is the bass breaks into a walk (which I don't care for in 3/4). Maybe I'll try to mix another version that sticks either dotted quarters or dotted halfs. The piano makes it easier to follow to my ear.
I freely admit to "dumbing down" things before attempting them, but here's my take (this is in tenor key):
For the first 12 bars, you can use the C Major scale (just watch the F in the second 4 bars of that)
You can simplify to using the D Major scale for bars 13-20 (optionally adding the G# for bars 13-16). Remember, I'm over-simplifying, but it's a starting point.
F Major scale for bars 21-24
Eb Major scale for bars 25-30, down a half step to D major scale for bars 31-32, back to the top.
So:
Again, this is vastly over-simplified, but if it gets you more comfortable with what you're hearing, your ear will take over from there. I've always found it easier for me to think of the major scales relative to the changes, but that's just my 2¢.
