I studied the bassoon for a while in my younger years but gave it up when I got more serious about the saxophone. This video makes me wish I could afford to buy another one.

My "re-interest" in bassoon came from two sources: first, hearing Paul Hansen performing with Bela Flek's group; and second, hearing this Illinois Jaquet solo from 1969 on Youtube:

When I was in high school we were lucky to get one bassoon player. My sons band has 4! Is bassoon the new cool instrument??

thanks for posting this. nice bassoon playing. I was serious about bassoon years ago myself. But I'm for many years now a dedicated sax player and do not miss bassoon playing but still love its sound.
