Hmmm, makes me wonder if it twisted off - bad solder joint and a too-tight neck cork?

Better than trying to find a replacement neck!

This happened to a friend of mine in college. Except his horn was a Selmer Series II alto. He said it happened when he put his horn together after riding in a cold trunk in the winter. It happens. A repairman soldered it back together. Wasn't as pretty, but worked all the same.

This happened to me some time ago. I use an adhesive product called "JB Weld". This made a strong (claimed tensile strength of almost 4,000 PSI), permanent repair and if done carefully will not be visible, or damaging the laquer finish.
