What a great subject!

When dealing with statistically unsubstantiated hypothetical questions, it's often useful to proceed from extreme examples back toward the norm. If anyone ever should have had a fat neck from backpressure, it would be this guy -- what do you think?

Hard to even SEE his neck behind all those axes, but maybe. . . .

Perhaps a poll is in order... most thick necked SOTW'er.
Then we'll know who can really play...
I like that idea.

Grumps, I found your picture online. The neck, hmm . . . thick? Hard to say, because the body looks like a beach ball! No disrespect. . . .

don't forget scoliosis...look at Coltrane's neck...it really hangs down...I think that the cheap sax neck straps that come with student saxes are probably very bad for the spines of growing kids.

Neck size poll:

I'm 6' tall, about 225 lbs, and have a 19" neck. I can never find shirts that button at the neck.
