Yep. Got it last night. About time. He's been advertising his "new" line of mouthpieces since around 1999 or 2000.

I also did. I emailed him for a spell about some horns he had for sale. Turns out he's almost local (1hr drive is pretty much local here).

This type of marketing method is used all the time. Nothing new going here with Theo's use of it.

But I am saddened to say that I am indeed waiting for his new mouthpieces.

His mouthpieces have always intriqued me and it is nice to see that they will be available. He's been in the business for a long time and has a strong reputation for knowing how mouthpieces should respond, etc... These mouthpieces have the potential to be pretty good players. We'll see.

...but did the email actually state anything about mouthpieces? We may see a new site on the 7th but no mouthpieces for another 10 years...

my main tenor piece for years was an early Babbitt STM that Theo refaced and reworked. Killer piece...has only been displaced by an EZ Florida about a year ago, but I still use the Theo piece for softer venues, as I think I get better control at low volumes (however, everyone tells me that there is no difference...it is in my head)

Glad to see he's getting back into the business

I've had some experience with Theo, too and think highly of his work.....and I don't think the email is ridiculous, at all, in fact it's smart because it's effective. He wants to create a buzz about his new line of products available through his website. Well now........let's see.......kind of like us talking about his new website?......

Well, from a marketing standpoint, it's a great idea. But when you take a step back and look at it, it's pretty silly. Just because it's silly doesn't mean it isn't effective or smart.
