Thanks much. Got a 9 from WW&BW on trial. Good sound and response but staying with what I have been playing for several years.
I just tried the Shiva 3 Gold 7* today and do not like it near as much as the HR Shiva 2 9 that I have. Maybe a 9 Gold but I think the HR is much smoother and versatile for different types of sounds. The Altissimo on the 7* Gold was easier than my HR8. I don't feel like I'm missing anything with my 2. It would have to bwe the one you tried, the 9

Can I ask what you didn't like? On the Shiva 3 7* , I loved the power and the forward push of sound. The bottom end sounded harsher than my Shive 2 9HR. Overall it seemed more powerful, but a little harsh to me. Not sure if I would feel the same about the 9. There is one posted on EBAY now from them for a 9...Probably yours>

I knew within a few minutes of playing it that it was not going to work for me so I returned it to WW&BW.

These days I enjoy playing party music for dances. Nothing at all laid back (as I did years ago) other than a slow song during the dance and the RPC is also nice for ballads and offers no resistance. My style is old school gutsy Rock & Roll with a lot of volume when needed.

The Shiva had about 1/2 the volume of my RPC. That was the only problem. I also tested a Jody Jazz Super Jet 9* several months ago. Same problem (for me). No serious volume (when needed) for what I am doing these days.

Other than the volume factor, both are all around good m/p's. Both Wanne and Jody make fine m/p's. Just depends on what works best for a player and the gig situations.

Thanks! I think I will just keep my Shiva 2 HR 9. It has seemed like a dream to me but thought the new 3 model might be even better...it wasn't. I have a Jody Jazz Jet and an old Otto Link too. I play mostly blues and blues rock but do some rock and some jazz.

You are welcome. Sounds good. I believe my m/p "trial days" are over. I was looking for a m/p as a "backup" in case anything were to happen to my RPC. Just glad I got it years ago. Used to play an Otto Link back in the 60's now that you mentioned it and a Berg. I still have that HR Berg. Really enjoyed them. That was before everything became electrified on stage. But I am having fun these days and look for a much better 2021 for gigs 🎷
