Man, I worked in a Chinese restaurant that shuffled six cd’s of cheeseball smooth jazz versions of this tune and a bunch of other standards with a pan flute sounding thing playing the melodies non-stop...turned me off to this tune for a long time. Out of Nowhere, all of me, NY NY...that flute sound burned a hole in my brain 🤣

Sorry I triggered your PTSD. I'll try not to do that again.

Very nice. Great sound and lots of tasty ideas.
I enjoyed listening to this, thank you.
Great tune! Great playing! With just the right amount of boldness in there. Not too smooth. I enjoyed it.
You turned it on. Love it.
This is the feel we use when we play it.
Yesssssss!!!!!!
Thanks very much to all for your lovely comments.

This tune has always been a favorite of mine. Please be watching for some more attempts at playing some more of my favorite covers in a non-cheesy, dignified manner. I just posted another cover of Every Breath You Take, which must be one of the most burned out/overdone sax covers ever. Why not one more ?

Living around NYC, I didn't have any need to post these sort of things since contractors knew me, knew how I play and I was working steady as much as I needed to. But down here in paradise, I've left all of that behind and I need to have a decent stable of demo tracks ready to show restaurant, club and resort owners and managers so I can start working more commercial-pop solo/duo $$ gigs in addition to doing straight ahead jazz gigs.

When I get back in March I mule down my MOTU so I can record better quality. In the meantime this iPad gets the job done ok enough.

This brings back memories. TSOYS was the first standard I learned when I was a beginner, back in 1966. I loved Boots Randolf's version, that was on the B side of Yakety Sax.

I just listened to that Boots verion. I dunno maybe I got ants in my pants or I'm ADHD today, but Its too slow for me! Ugh... I think that arrangement needs Ben Webster. Nobody can play as slow as Ben Webster and still get the cosmic energy flowing.
