I was listening to Flying Home on YouTube and then spotted these clips of the biographical video, Texas Tenor: The Illinois Jacquet Story. This is wonderful stuff with him playing as well as interviews of him, Lionel Hampton and Sonny Rollins.
Flying Home:
The Illinois Jacquet Story Pt. 1 and Pt. 2
Enjoy -- this music is timeless even if its creators have left us.
I think we should never let all the great players like Illinois Jacquet be forgetten because they're our heritage. That's the best way to pay our respects for what they have given us, but if you want to say a few words or place some flowers, or play your sax, Illinois Jacquet lies in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
