The holidays- how early do venues book?

I just got called to put together a jazz combo for a Christmas party. Problem is, it's already October and already a lot of the rhythm section people are booked. I hate the business part of everything- but I know I have to ask for a good chunk of change to make the rhythm section people happy.

I don't think it's ever to early to book, I started booking my calendar for the Holidays at the end of last year's holiday gigs.

The silly season tends to quickly become an extra busy for most, so those booking last minute should expect a little bit of a premium to get groups into the lineup!
