Here is the Dutch TH&C champ Rinus Groeneveld, who is still swinging often here in Amsterdam. He is one of the few guys who still uses a lot of Mr. Lee Allen's style in his solo's.

Yes, I worked with Lee in the Fats Domino band - he also became a great friend and did some sessions on My Mr Lucky album.

I was about to produce his second album - on Ace Records - but sadly he got cancer. I visited him at the hospice in LA so paid my last respects. A great player - truly unique - and hugely generous human being. He always had time for younger players.

What a treat! his playing reminds me of the Chuck Berry lyrics.
I took my loved one over across the tracks
And she can turn her mind to wailin' sax
I must admit they have a rocking band
