David Sanborn stores his reeds in a very similar manner.

At a recent master class he was asked about reeds and he responded "don't get me started"'.

Thank you. I didn't know anything about Sanborn's way to store reeds. Reed bottle or reed battle? This is tge question! Haha anyway, I seriously trust that keeping the reeds wet extend reed life. And this is especially important if you play baritone, since that reeds are damn pricey!

FWIW - I store mine in a jar with a "little" distilled alcohol - I initially had to periodically leave the jar open to adjust the moisture levels so the reeds were moistened but not wet OR over moist. The sanitation of the reeds I find the most benefit from -Just alto and tenor for me. Nice video by the way - I enjoyed it.
