Wondering if any Buescher TH&C horns ever came without the raised sliver "Buescher 400" lettering on the bell. A friend recently got a silver TH&C alto and it has the same thing engraved in place of where the raised lettering would be. Is this legit?

all TH&Cs had the raised lettering.
That comes from first-hand experience, or from the same stuff all the rest of us read on the internet?

Anyhow, is "Buescher 400" also engraved underneath the raised lettering? That is, could this horn simply have lost the raised lettering to reveal engraving underneath?

I've seen several on eBay with all or part of the raised lettering missing. They didn't have any engraving below the missing silver lettering.

I've seen at least one on ebay that was missing the raised lettering but it had the lettering engraved instead. The photos were pretty good and it appeared to be original to me.
