Tenor Player I know stripped the threads on the screw of his NY STM lig and ordered a replacement through WWBW. Ordered it over the phone, had to repeatedly specify it was for a NY and not the standard STM, but he got the replacement lig in 5-6 working days.

If you can get hold of, original Harrison Ligatures are like a dream. FL is my favorite after that, followed close by Olegature. Brancher, Selmer 404 are very decent. Others not mentioned I had no experience with to comment. Even Rovner is better than the stock lig.

I've got one for you - I have an STM NY 8* and I don't use the lig & cap that came with it, I prefer to use a Rovner. I'll sell it for $25, shipping included in the US. If you want it, send me a PM with your email and we can do a Paypal transaction.

BabyBoomer, I pm'd you!

BTW, The Rovners I have are either too tight or too loose. BG ligs, two screw, 404 (too small)...nothing fits just right. And yes, a 404 is wonderful on a standard 7* (or smaller) STM. The larger 8 * NY links are, well, larger...

I've ordered a Rico H lig for metal Links for my Florida STM - could be a good option for a NY too if it fits... should be something like the Harrison.
Have one - meh, fits okay. I would have expected better for a lig specifically made to fit a metal Link. I've found two issues with the design. Depending upon what STM you have it fits a little differently. It fits my STM Millennium the best, my Florida the worst, and a stock 7* STM from around 2004-2005 in between. It isn't designed well to deal with the ridge on the back of an STM. If the reed you use happens to be just the right thickness the lig hangs up on the ridge as you try and tighten it and becomes difficult to get adjusted. The second problem is that if the top of the reed (where the "H" part of the lig holds the reed) is not very symmetric, one side or the other of the "H" may not sit flush on the reed and so it doesn't hold well. Overall, it's too fussy for me.

The FL Ultimate works much better, quick to adjust and holds the reed solid. Some of the Rovners work okay for me as well.
