Anyone know what the facing curve length is supposed to be for this mpce?
From my measurements it reads close to 58 on the EB glass gauge. It is a
7. Seems awful long. It is like new, never had any work done on it.
54 works great. Ive never gone so far as 58. Its pretty long...but not so excessive it couldnt work. I hope the baffle helps to make it up in the highs. Id expect 58 to be a bit spongey otherwise. How does it play?
Id be more concerned about finding if the curve is a curve and if it is straight.
An old rule-of-thumb was that tenor MP facing lengths should be 44-48. Modern long facings, like Guardalas, go to 50-52. Links should be around 46-50. Yours may be long due to a wavy table.
those pieces were made so long ago that the reeds were harder.
The facing curves are very very long but i can't measure.
I had an 8 that took vandoren blue box 5 reeds that were still too soft.
