Hello together,

I'm listening to this tune for so many years now. It's on Elvin Jones' Live at The Lighthouse album and Steve Grossman recorded it several times later in his career. First I thought it was a Grossman tune but then I read Dave Liebman's liner notes to the Elvin Jones recording realizing that the composer's name is Farouq Dawud.
I love this tune and did some research on the composer but haven't found anything about him yet. Was he a sax player? Do anyone of you know more about him?
Thanks and best regards
Jo

I found a hint in this book meanwhile: "Before the Fires: An Oral History of African American Life in the Bronx from 1930 to 1960".
It says he was playing in Dizzy Gillespie's band but hardly more. More info appreciated if you have some or find out some more or if you have a friend whose friend knew him etc.
