Our resident expert on SOTW on tárogatók is Kymarto. This is a thread he started a few years back. https://forum.saxontheweb.net/showt...ays-tarogato&p=1795532&viewfull=1#post1795532 If anyone knows a discussion forum for this wonderful instrument it would be him. I bought a really crappy tárogató from him several years ago and did a total restoration on it. It is still a crappy tárogató, but I learned a lot by taking on the challenge. :)

It's got a neat sound. I wish they were more readily available at non-nosebleed prices and with Boehm-related keywork. Oh well, I wish I were 24 years old 6 feet tall with wavy blond hair and shaped like a golf tee, too.

The woodwindforum has a tárogató part - not very active, but interesting.

I have a romanian taragot which plays great with a zinner mouthpiece - it's a pity that they retired. It does not get to much playing time because of all my other instruments.

BTW: My avatar is a picture of the double reed anchestor of the tárogató.

What info are you looking for?
There is quite a bit of good information scattered all over the web. If you're looking for a horn, be prepared to wait for one or pay lots for a new one (they make them with Boehm keys now, yuck).
I love playing my Stowasser, btw. Such a great instrument.
