What are your opinions of the T880 tenor? Does it have the good qualities of a vintage sax like flexibility, complexity of overtones, response, etc.? I want a tonally flexible sound - I am thinking of Warne Marsh. Is the Yanagisawa T880 capable of this kind of fluidity? I have tried a few Yanagisawa's but not the later (880+) pro models. They were all nice but the tone always seemed a bit on the 'neutral' side.

Thanks.

I just picked a T880 up after not playing for 15 years and I love it so far. My opinion on the sound doesn't matter as I'm still trying to get all of the basics back under control. It feels just as good or better than the YTS-62 I used to play.

Jay Metcalf of Better Sax plays a T880 on his channel and has a ton of good things to say about them.

Matt Stohrer has this overview of the T880:

Maybe SOTW member Tryptykon will see this thread and chime in. I have no experience with these but I own a nice B990 bari.

The 880 is a great tenor.

If you're musically up to it, it will deliver the Warne Marsh-influenced stylings with ease .

I have a T880 and an A880. Both are fantastic horns and about as close to a Mark VI as you can get.

Most of my playing has been in very loud situations playing over electric guitars and loud drums etc. - and for those situations I prefer my Yamaha YTS62. But the Yanagisawa is much warmer/complex/rich and the key action and ergos are about as good as you can get.
