Mouthpieces are widely accepted as having a big impact on the sound you're trying to create and the invention of 3D printing has only opened the realm of possibilities. For most Saxophonists a custom mouthpiece was and is at best a pipe dream but SYOS has brought what was once totally exclusive to a few to the everyday musician. You can simply design one on their website to your liking. While that in and of itself is exciting. I am even more excited about the possibilities in the future. I won't be surprised if in the near future they can 3D print a metal mouthpiece or a hard rubber mouthpiece.

Are you as excited as I am? why or why not.

Several people were as excited as you are, even the founder herself, she is a member here

Hi!

I'm Pauline, co-founder of Syos company. We are based in France and we make custom saxophone mouthpieces.
We have an online questionnaire where you can describe the sound you want, and from your answers, we are able to design the most appropriate mouthpiece for you!

Have a look at our website: http://www.syos.co

We sell the mouthpiece for 249,17€ excl. taxes so that's close to 285$.

We designed custom mouthpieces for great musicians such as Dayna Stephens, Godwin Louis, Leland Whitty (Badbadnotgood), Daro Behroozi (Lucky Chops), Seun Kuti, Knoel Scott (Sun Ra Arkestra), Moon Hooch... You can also buy their signature mouthpieces for 165,83€ excl. taxes, so that 190$.

I'm here if you have questions!

I know this is an alto thread, but I'll chime in with the knowledge that I have. I have a custom SYOS tenor mouthpiece, and I could not be happier with it. For reference, my previous pieces included a Theo Wanne Slant Sig, Modern Otto Link STM, and a Meyer 6M refaced by Bill Street (a local legend in my area). My SYOS piece blows the rest out of the water. I have and will continue to sing the praises of this company in this thread and others.

Hopefully SYOS will add other options in the future as far as material and exterior shape. I think it would be interesting if they would even add a section where you could design the actual specs of the interior of the piece (ex. you choose your baffle shape, chamber size, facing curve, etc..).

I am strongly considering getting one and the idea at the very least is interesting

I play a Syos Custom MPC for 4 month now and I´m very very happy with it.
The first attempt was quite good, but it was not perfect for me. I gave some responce to the MPC-designer and Syos made a new one that fits really really great to me. Really great work!
