As some of you have possibly noticed, WWBW has the SX90r in Nickel Silver on like Supermegaultimate sale (under 3k). Does anybody know why they would have done this? Like is there something wrong/not as good about these horns? or is that finish just being discontinued? Because the Shadow, Vintage, and Lacquer finishes are still full price (upwards of 5k). Thanks for any advice because I'm hurting for a new sax to get away from my current horn, and this looks like my gift from above.

YEAH,,,I want one also. I have a tenor Sx90R that plays great big low end and very good intonation. I'm constantly checking everywhere last month a guy sold a used nickel silver sx90r alto for $1500. A buy it now steal. I was watching then fell asleep and didnt bid. I am still killing myself over that one. But, maybe later on for christmas I'll get myself one new out of the box. Good luck guys and take care.

Doug, you got a good deal! I have been wanting to take a chance on a Nickel Silver or Shadow for a while, but so far have been unable to justify the price. $2600 is a good deal!

Are you sure about that? Looks like the tenors are $3200 and the altos are $3000. They have used prices for less than that, but who knows what you are going to get buying used there. At least they have a return policy. Still a good price for a new one I suppose. I've owned my Nickel Silver SX90R for about 6 years now, and don't have any desire to search for another tenor. It's a great horn.

Most likely that the "used" horns are damaged from shipping - they previously sold those as "blemished". It's not like WWBW takes horns on trade.

That's an issue with a huge retailer with a "liberal" return policy - after a while, the inventory is filled with returns and culls.

If you think that Otto Links have quality issues, what do you think happens when so many mouthpieces go out on trials and the keepers are sorted out?

Yes, and we are all patiently awaiting that day.

I was referring to the matter of large retailers with a liberal exchange policy and it's effect on the inventory of merchandise once cycled through a few seasons of trials. But enough of that.

How's your SX90R nickel silver tenor?

Talk to WWBW, maybe they can get you hooked up with a nice used one for a good price. Plan on an immediate visit to a good tech if you buy new or used from WWBW, so you really cannot go wrong going used. I see them come up on ebay, but not as often as many of the other top boutique brands. It is easier to find a 5 digit 6 on ebay than it is to find a JK NS.

Guys just a word of balance about wwbw used or B stock horns.

I got a JK B stock that was actually a new (e.g. un-pre-owned) sax but it was five years old. Semantics aside it was superb. It did have some lacquer bleed which Stephen Boeskin a superb German tech said was typical. He looked over the horn and said it was otherwise just fine. I got it at a big discount.

On another occasion, I bought a B stock YTS 82Z UL no F# key. When I got it there were some issues but I can't remember what they were. Not earth shattering. I called the ww department up, had a nice chat and they dropped the price considerably. I got the sax at a steal and, after a modest service charge from my local repair tech, it was as good as good can be. When I later used it as part of a trade in on a new Selmer Serie III tenor the sales guy's eyes bulged out of his his head when I opened the case to show him the horn.

So anyway, one can get some good horns from wwbw as B stock.
