So I bought this old Vox-branded, Beaugnier alto off ebay with the intent to restore. It was a cheap buy, which is good because the sax was in worse condition that I expected and the case has the worst smell I've ever encountered. There were several Brilhart mouthpieces inside the case, which I originally wrote off--two tenor and two alto. One of tenor mouthpieces turns out to be a serial-numbered Brilhart Ebolin 3, which has just solved my tenor mouthpiece problem. It plays beautifully, but it looks like I'm one of the first to play it. The other tenor ebolin looks like someone decided to leave an impression of their front teeth, but also plays very well. The two alto are "special" ebolins, but based on this guy's taste, I'll be giving them a test tomorrow.
