I was recently asked to participate in a local Supertramp tribute band. I must admit that I do not know the complete catalog of Supertramp. Is there anyone who can help me to list the best Supertramp-saxophone-songs? :sunny:

The Logical Song, It's Raining Again, Hide in Your Shell, Breakfast in America (Clarinet), Take The Long Way Home (Clarinet and Harmonica), Crime of the Century, Bloody Well Right, Cannonball.

Buy their greatest hits CD, I know there are more that I haven't listed.

Check out the albums Breakfast in America and Crime of the Century in particular. Filled with great tunes... and the live album Paris. John Anthony Helliwell (think i got that right) was their woodwind player and keyboardist and all around terrific musican, imo. Very jazzy and tasteful at times, but could get down and dirty as well.

I'd check YouTube, probably could find some good live stuff on there. I know I've seen a few clips from the late '70s, those guys were players.

Good luck, John Helliwell is a fantastic player and contributed greatly to their unique sound. I love Supertramp but trying to find someone who sings like Roger Hodgson is not easy, we usually just play the Rick Davies songs.

I really like Supertramp, back from being at school in the 70s and wanting to hear saxophone all the time.

Curtis Swift of saxsolos.com has transcribed quite a few of John Anthony Helliwell's solos, including:
  • Bloody Well Right
  • Breakfast in America
  • Child of Vision
  • Crime of the Century
  • Don't Leave Me Now
  • Fool's Overture
  • From Now On
  • Give A Little Bit
  • Gone Hollywood
  • If Everyone Was Listening
  • It's Raining Again
  • Lord Is It Mine
  • School
  • Take the Long Way Home
  • The Logical Song

Curtis' work is very good, so it might be worth seeing which of these songs you and the band like and then getting them from the website.
