Hey folks,

I bought a Cleveland Super 20 Bari (400k) recently, which needs an overhaul. What pads and especially resos do you recommend?

Those baris are not very common especially in my area, so local repairmen aren`t experienced with them.
Right now small flat metal resos are installed- don`t know if original...

Aim is of course: dry and strong bari sound in the lower and full tenorlike sound in the upper register without unnecessary intonation problems. Don`t want or need to play in a classical quartet with it :bluewink2:

If you get good pads installed the reso's don't make any difference in my opinion.
For the little extra they may cost, black roo pads will take care of you for a long time.
Plastic reso's are as good as any.
Chrome may look nicer though.
I'd love an S20 Baritone to go with my tenor.

Resonators don't seem to make any difference in sound, at least not great enough to be significant:

I know a few people who prefer oversized resos, which (maybe) boosts the sound... who knows...
Just for the fun; get Hollywood resos from MM I think they look cool. I will probably install them on a horn some day... but only for the look

Or go with similar resos at it was before but with a larger diameter?!

Super 20's like thin pads. I have large flat brass Resos in mine, I wouldn't use nylon Selmer style domed.. Tenor Madness and Reso-Tech are a couple of sources.

Flat metal resos. The resos may help the sound but will make the horn easier to sell if you decide not to keep it.

Will 4mm Pisoni Pro or Deluxe Pads be flat enough? I heard on special request and an extra charge you can get thinner ones directly at Music Center (Italy).

(I don`t believe that Roopads are worth the extra money (have some other horns padded with them) and I fear they could take too much time to arrive here in Germany...)
