Here's a video rather than just the Soundcloud link to audio. I popped it down this morning more as a test than a finished article. I think the audio is out by a few milliseconds but it's my first go so bear with me please. I kept it simple. No split screen overdubs (I wish) just me in the booth at home in the studio. I did use the Q-tron for the first 2 choruses but it's pure alto after that.
Let me know if you have any useful tips or comments ("give up Alex" I hear you cry) And thanks for listening and watching if you have time. Alex

Great playing Alex. Cool effect! I always enjoy your playing and it's great to see the video form! Cool choice of tune and smooooooth!

A quick tip I figured out on syncing video and audio. I keep the video audio and separate audio tracks unmuted, and then match it to where they sound like two tracks playing simultaneously.

That's a great idea Jared. I'll look into that one with the next video. Bit of a learning curve for me but I'll get there. Thanks for listening. Alex

No worries, I did the same thing a few months back with my first audio video (frankensax) Took me a while to find a good method - so i figured I would share.

Ya Alex!! Sounds great. So glad you are getting into the videos!

How did you do the effects like that? It didn't sound like a sax at all and tripped me out for a minute!

Yes, this is what I do. I record the audio separately and use the video audio to line everything up and then mute the audio on the video when it's synced so I'm left with the separately recorded audio.

Does that make sense? Writing it out is more complicated than it actually is.

Yeah Simon! That is the much better way of explaining what I was trying to say. Glad I'm not alone on this one!

It is simple and very effective. Would be lost without it!

Definitely a good technique :). Hope all is well with the wife and future daughter. Stay safe.

Thanks Simon. I did that audio mute thing and synced as best as I could. It's just a question of refining my idea of what is synced and what isn't. I'll get it next time hopefully. I certainly understand what you and Jared are saying and thank you for the advice. Much appreciated. For the initial effect that's the Q-Tron going through my pedal board (there's a pic of it on my Soundcloud account....the banner) it's a fairly involved set up and I've been working it out for the last 2 years. I go straight into he Q-Tron for maximum effect and then compress the living life out of it. There's a whole heap of other stuff on there too On the board and with Plug-in fx from Eventide and a reverb thereafter. It's just a sound that I'm looking for that adds ambience and life to the horn/flute etc I'm getting there with that slowly too.... thanks for watching.

Sorry Keith I missed this one. No secrets I'm afraid....I don't have anything other than a shed load of practicing like most other players I guess. It's certainly not my set up...Conn 6m and a Meyer small chamber (70's vintage I think) as always I'm just trying to express me without trying to be someone else but those sounds that you hear so often sometimes come through....if I had to nail an alto player that I hear more in terms of sound it would be Eric (Marienthal) but then I love Kenny Garrett too so I feel his sound as well sometimes. Thanks again for your really kind words. Alex

Alex, this piece gave me great pleasure. Pure (even synth) sax and saxman with emotions. Video brings it to another level.
Completely different perception.
Thanks.
