can anyone suggest any current-day mouthpiece makers, if one wants to get close to the 1950s metal link for alto sound?

or would it be best to buy a current link alto metal piece and have it re-finished (I have previously been advised against this)?

I'm not sure why anyone would advise against this??? It seems to me there are several guys doing killer work along these lines right now. Most of the buzz is around the tenor pieces, but I don't see why the same couldn't be done with an alto piece. Warburton guys?

I don't like the current run, and having played some older ones in the past, I think they sound fatter and warmer.

did just talk to Warburton this morning, thanks for the suggestion, above, and I may go that route.
