Several years ago I was looking at the Silverstein ligatures and was amazed at the $300-400 price tag. So I grabbed some cord and tied my own ligature and thought it was pretty wonderful - except how to take it off without having to tie it again. So I put a little hot melt glue on the top side (opposite the reed side) and now I can slide it on and off with ease and I really don't know what I'm missing that I'd get with the silverstein ligature besides the thinner wallet. Anyone else try this? I've been using this for the past 15 years or so and the only thing I don't like about it is the only cap that I can fit on is a bari cap.
