Still Shopping .... 2 Questions .......

1. What is a "STENCIL"? I have seen the word on this website, but have no clue what it is, as related to saxophones.

2. Anyone ever heard of the saxophone brand, WOODWIND? I see one that is supposed to be a pro-quality horn, but rather inexpensive, so does anyone know anything about their sound, tone, resonsiveness, etc.?

Do you see a Revere section here?
Ebay is not for the inexperienced horn purchaser.
Yes, but the "Revere" they were talking about in that old thread isn't the "Revere" you're looking at on Ebay.
Ebay is a cess pool of thieves, liars and shills.
But yeah, you can get a good deal for a sax, but only if:

1) You are an experienced Ebay user, with your own account, and can easily spot a scam auction (meaning you don't have to post a question here to find out).
2) You are an experienced saxophone player, familiar with both modern and vintage horns and have an eye for detail; and,
3) You are lucky.

To Grumps .... frankly, I cannot do anything about the fact of being inexperienced ... so why should it be such a terrible thing for me to ask my questions here?
It wasn't a slight against you at all Candy. I spent years lurking on Ebay before ever signing up; learning the ropes, so to speak. I'm not saying you can't ask questions here. I'm just saying if you have to, Ebay may not be the best option. You'll get a ton of recommendations either way, and sometimes not from the best ones to offer it. Then if you get ripped off... who do you blame? I'm just urging caution, that's all. Keep asking all the questions you want. That's what it's here for.
