I recently discovered Findings, Lacy's artistic homage to the soprano sax, on ScribD https://www.scribd.com the full 224 pages, not the previously-listed partial version. Search on "Findings (Steve Lacy)". You may have to subscribe, but the first month is free and plenty of time to read it (if not necessarily to play through all the exercises, quirky duets, etc.) This book is out of print, with only a few copies available thru interlibrary loan.

I've got this book when it first came out on print. It's a great book indeed.
Congrats on bagging an original copy. The cheapest in the used market is currently about $130, with a more typical price being $300 or more!

Yes, it's a pretty amazing book- obviously the product of an insatiably creative mind.

It is tragic that Findings is out of print. It should be a textbook at Berklee and NEC for all saxophonists and most musicians in general.. I own both editions of Findings and believe that it is more useful than most of the hundreds of other method, technique, and improvisation books that I own. I hope that someone will reprint the book.

If you can get a good copy for $130, then grab it. The book was about $80 new when it was in print.

Not that it makes a difference, but the 2006 re-issue was $50.
