An example would be a horn made by Conn but lacking a front F, G# trill , rolled tone holes, etc. Nothing wrong with a stencil but not as easy to sell. The downside is that it may need work and it is better to redo a name brand than a stencil. If you buy a Concertone (martin) for $300 and spend $500 on a repad, it would probably be worth about $500. Spend $500 on a Martin Committee and $500 on a repad and you may have a $1,200 horn.
